I’m often asked ‘what is a Sound Bath? Is water involved?’ 🛁
Sound Baths or Sound journeys are a method of relaxation and meditation that utilize singing bowls, gongs and other healing instruments to promote relaxation. The sound vibrations impact our nervous system, engaging our relaxation reflex and inhibiting the stress or pain response.
The tones synchronize with our brain waves, enhance awareness of the mind/body connection and allow the body to shift into the para-sympathetic nervous system, or better known as the ‘rest and digest’ system. This state-of-being conserves energy, slows the heart rate and calms the mind.
Water isn’t involved but an experience of being surrounded by or bathed in sound may be felt. 😴💤💤
